Crammed into a small folding chair at French Quarters listening to what would eventually the building blocks to “Dougie Style” I took a drag from a Marlboro Black and quickly glanced at the individual sitting directly across from me who was at the same instance taking a puff on a blunt.
That individual was Eldrick King aka King Doug and the weed he was smoking was Blue Dream as far as I could tell from the aroma.
Before I delve too deeply into this conundrum I need to make you aware of just how much inside information one is able to gather about a person based on the strain of weed they smoke. (That is, if they so chose to puff puff pass at all)
Its true. For example, people that prefer sour diesel, which is a sativa strain that is made by crossing Chemdawg with Super Kunk, are typically people who suffer from or deal with a lot of anxiety and stress in thier personal lives.
Sour D’s is 90 percent sativa, and its calming after affects make it a must have for those who yearn for a relaxing cloud in which to escape on.
Blue Dream? Now there's a strain of weed that's effects are equally as rewarding but on the opposite end of the spectrum. The majority of Blue Dream fans enjoy to for its resounding knack for getting the is creative juices flowing,
And King Doug I would soon learn, was as creative as they come.
A founding member of local band done good “Oversat”King, along with Jeremiah Longbear, Johny Dillon and Wendy Ann made a brief but lasting impression on East Tennessee club goers when they dropped “Then We Gon Get Drunk” along with the rest of “You Aint No Hipster” in 2014.
Six years and and a plethora of Blue Dream later, fate would find him sitting directly across from me. A strong minded, ego driven venture capitalist fresh off quitting my day job so I could live off my 401k and pursue a lifelong dream o starting an indie record label, right?
Well, that’s not exactly how I found my way to where I am currently. Truth be told, I signed up to play bass guitar opposite
King Doug (drummer) in a punk/metal fusion band that had the working title of “Freq of Nature”.
The part about quitting my day job is correct. But that mainly had to do with the growing tentacles of a scourge known as Covid as well as an inescapable urge I had at the time to break free of the call center day job I was holding at the time.
Its my opinion that transitioning from working for privately held companies to working for yourself after nearly 3 decades of gameful employment, is without question ,one of the most gratifying experiences an individual can afford in this life. It’s somewhat the same satisfaction, I suppose, as getting the opportunity to fire someone after
you, yourself, had been shit canned, or let go fro a company for some bullshit reason. You have the power. The Power?
Yep. The cotdamn Powah! The Power to Hire, the Power to Fire, the Power, there power to Buy and the power to Sale. Essentially, the power to influence things and grow your brand, as the saying goes.
